Agatha Carubia, Master of Music from the Juilliard School, is widely known as a versatile voice teacher, mentor, and life coach to her students. Her foundational method of teaching voice extends from classical technique to popular style vocal coaching. She is exceptionally sought after for her deep intuitive connection to the internal workings of her students and their voices. Her specific attention to, and illumination of the physical body as vocal instrument, is fortified by being an avid Yoga practitioner for the last 14 years. Agatha has also studied and taught sound healing through the voice.
Her students have been accepted into vocal programs at Curtis Institute of Music, Manhattan School of Music, Boston University, Boston Conservatory, Berklee College of Music, Carnegie Mellon University, Eastman School of Music, Westminster Choir College, UCLA, USC, Royal Academy of Denmark, Music Academy of the West, The Tanglewood Festival and others. She has also thoroughly enjoyed working with award winning contemporary singers and songwriters. Former students now work professionally on stage, in pop recording careers, and in Opera houses. Agatha maintains a private vocal studio at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara and conducts workshops and vocal clinics on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Agatha is an adjunct voice instructor at Santa Barbara City College and a frequent competition adjudicator. She is also a faculty artist for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival on the Big Island of Hawaii. A distinguished artist and award winning soprano, Agatha has enjoyed singing in concerts, operas, music festivals, orchestral and oratorio performances.

“Agatha's technique gave me a deep, natural connection to my voice that has kept me in top performance condition since I began studying with her. As I have grown as a vocalist and performer, this approach has continued to serve as my foundation. Her methods facilitate a true understanding of one's instrument that does not rely on tricks or gimmicks, simply legitimate, unpolluted knowledge.”
– Andrea Matthews, Brown Universtiy

“Agatha is one of a kind: passionate, powerful, in-your-face-blunt, compassionate, generous, nurturing, and above all an extraordinarily talented teacher who is fiercely committed to her students. I have personally witnessed again and again over the last twelve years her students having break-through moments of vocal and personal power transformation. Her years of teaching and research culminate in Heart Based Singing the book and her unique method can now transcend the boundaries of her private studio and be shared with the world. What a profound gift to us!”
